Nathan Payne - Maux expands her Seven Fields in Keep the Ocean Inside and, consequently, explores--both in her inner journey (that we are lucky enough to participate in with her) and her outward journey of absorption of light and sound.
Here you will hear influences of Grouper and William Basinski threaded throughout as her landscape evolves, yet she remains true to her voice. It is an album of experience and best listened to as a whole. It speaks of an artist in a comfortable cocoon. Join her.
Favorite track: True North.
anders-nelson - Her first LP created a lush planet with a sort of uniform atmosphere, where one could get lost for hours on end...
With the new LP, Seven Fields has created an entire universe of ambient music, a universe existing of temporary stops on distant planets only to be wisked away to a new changing atmosphere by each track. There are familiar and unfamiliar elements, and some discernible references to classical ambient production.
Favorite track: Drift (Losing Light).
